The PHOOTONICS consortium consists of the following partners:
• Photonic devices manufacturers and providers UAB, IMEC, QUEST and ALPES that bring in the consortium relevant commercial devices and extensive background in design, manufacturing and commercially exploiting photonics devices for a number of domains, including photonic devices for medical use. Particularly UAB is the owner of the FEETWELL prototype, which uses thermal-IR for DFU management and monitoring. ALPES is a European leader in manufacturing lasers (QCLs) in the Mid-IR spectrum and in the NIR spectrum (tuneable diodes). IMEC is prominent in the manufacturing of the insilicon HSI photodetectors. QUEST is a medical equipment manufacturer exploiting HSI and laser technologies.
• Developers of software services in the domains of Signal Processing, Machine Learning, and back-end and frontend platforms EXUS and NTUA that bring in the consortium the expertise needed to implement the envisioned software components that will allow the reliable monitoring of DFU parameters, while maintaining the responsiveness and cost-effectiveness of the PHOOTONICS PRO and In-Home devices. Moreover, EXUS is a partner and coordinator in H2020 Big Data projects in the health domain and offers end-to-end software solutions for health data management and analytics as part of their product portfolio. NTUA is an academic partner with expertise in signal processing, machine learning and digestion of photonic data.
• Medical experts specialized in carrying out relevant clinical studies CHA, ATT and VBMS will ensure the applicability of the proposed device in the management of DFU from the design stage to the implementation and validation stage. All three university hospitals are European leaders in providing state of the art healthcare services.
• Legal and Ethics experts TIM will ensure that all the relevant developments adhere to current legal regulations and ethics standards.
